OUTCOME: George Russell is a Williams Racing driver in Formula One and also a Mercedes AMG F1 junior driver. George comes into F1 with huge potential and graduated as the best driver in his last 2 series championships.
George is only one of 2 people to have won the GP3 and F2 title back to back. Matching the achievement of Charles Leclerc. He's a huge British prospect and we are super proud to say he wears our logo.
I spotted that his initials ‘GR’ and favourite number ‘63’ had potential for combining. George got in touch with us when we posted the logo concept over on our Instagram page. We sent over the files to his current design team and now he wears it proudly on his helmet and website.
CLIENT Charlie Eastwood
OUTCOME Charlie is an Aston Martin Junior Driver. He races for TF Sport in the WEC Series and also competes in the Blancpian GT series across Europe. He is again a great talent and one to keep an eye on.
Charlie approached us for a new logo. He was great to work with and was very clear with his brief. Combining his initials led to many options and after a poll on his Instagram channel the final logo was chosen.
CLIENT: Tom Canning
BRIEF: Logo design
OUTCOME: Tom Canning is the youngest ever entrant in the British GT Championship. He has a huge future ahead of himself and in a short space of time has impressed with his raw pace and professionalism.
For the start of 2019 Tom announced he had signed with the Aston Martin Racing Academy. As part of this he signed for TF Sport for the 2019 British GT Championship, where he will hope for podium results and a potential championship push.
Tom approached us for a Logo update and Website. The website is in progress however the logo has launched. A racey but simple design to modernise his look and launch a stronger brand to match Tom’s ambitions.
CLIENT Artem Markelov
OUTCOME Artem approached us once we’d already posted some concepts for him on our Instagram page. He liked one of the concepts, we worked it up a bit more and he was happy enough to start wearing it on his new Helmet.
Artem was runner up to Charles Leclerc in Formula 2 and has recently moved over to the highly rated Super Formula series in Japan. This series recently had Pierre Gasly and along with Artem himself also feature the highly rated Dan Ticktum this season too.
CLIENT Dudu Barrichello
BRIEF Logo Design
OUTCOME Dudu Barrichello is the son of former Formula One driver Rubens Barrichello, and he cam to us for a logo design. He wanted to combine his initials with his race number similar to George Russells logo.
When you haven’t planned for a combination it can’t always work, but in this case we found a great solution using negative space and Dudu loves it.
We were pleased to support Century Motorsport and Tom Canning at the Gulf 12hrs this year. Taking place in Dubai, the team was looking set for a victory in the GT4 category until an issue made them drop to the back of the field. A great fightback from the team saw them gain a few places back but the damage had already been done.
Steller Motorsport 2018
CLIENT: Steller Motorsport
BRIEF: British GT4 entry for 2018. Entering 2 Toyota GT86 Cars. Create an eye-catching, edgy livery. Then cascade this down onto drivers race-wear etc.
OUTCOME: Very early on, I was keen to create a livery based on a camouflage. From this came the concept of creating a camo print featuring the shapes of the tracks featured in the British GT season. This has worked to great effect, and the client was delighted. A press release and a feature on the channel 4 highlights show has since shed light on the design to the wider public to a great reaction.
Steller Group Branding
CLIENT: Steller Group
BRIEF: The Steller Group (formerly GPRM) approached us for an entire rebrand. Going full time in the British GT for the 2018 season, they're previous name didn't cover the aspects their business did.
The have 3 sections to their company. Engineering, Performance and Motorsport.
OUTCOME: We created a technical looking S also forming a crest, inspired by sporting teams and car branding. This broke down into various versions required for trucks, clothing, social media and accessories.
Some of these we’re competition entries. We believe in recognisable helmet designs. The era in the 90’s where you had Schumacher, Hill Coulthard, Senna and Villeneuve and knew exactly who was in the car from their iconic helmet designs. Here at Grid Graphics we want to bring that back. No over designed, over complicated repetitive designs. Just clean, iconic and modern Helmet designs.
These concept cars are over on our Instagram page @grid.graphics. They’re just for fun but get some great response on instagram.
Imagine if some of these teams joined F1. All of these concepts are on Formula 1’s 2021 Concept Car.
This is how Grid Graphics for started really. Some fun concept Logos over on our Instagram page. The idea of combining racing numbers with the driver initials got us curious.
What do you think? Doesn’t work with everyone, but if you thought yours might its a great personal logo with a clever twist!
